Leeds United’s transfer window has already thrown up a few surprises and their search for another striker option could be developing.

Daniel Farke has insisted that Leeds United will not be active in the transfer window, but that is hard to come by due to the sheer amount of players the Whites have been linked to.

There could be a plethora of targets that end up at Elland Road in January or Farke could face what is set to be a difficult window.

One thing is clear for Farke though, and that is his pursuit of a Premier League striker, who has received high praise after recent reports.

Unai Emery believes ‘fantastic’ Leeds United target Louie Barry should be playing at a higher level

Aston Villa have reportedly made it clear they are ready to sell Louie Barry which will certainly gain the attention of interested clubs.

Leeds will be facing competition from a host of Championship outfits, keen to acquire Barry’s services after a strong loan spell in League One with Stockport County.

Villa boss, Unai Emery has detailed that Barry deserves a Championship move and believes another decision needs to be made regarding his future.

Speaking on Friday during his press conference, Emery said: “He is really performing very well, last year, this year.

“We want to introduce him again with us here and to take again another decision with him. But he has potential.

“We are happy with him. If he can help us, he will do it. But in case, his progression is better to go on loan and to play more and more and get minutes and confidence, playing at a higher level than he played, of course, is the plan with him.

“We are going to decide again with him, but his potential is exploiting and really being fantastic for him, for the club, as our player. And then we are going to decide.”

Leeds can cement Championship title bid with Barry who ‘trained with Messi’

Barry is yet to compete in the Championship after five loan spells away from parent club Aston Villa, so this could be a real test for the 21-year-old.

The youngster has hit the ground running and after being recalled from Stockport in January, Leeds could definitely find a place for Barry to provide serious competition with Mateo Joseph and Joel Piroe.

Barry’s backstory is definitely a point of interest as the striker came through the Barcelona academy before making his move to Villa.

When at La Masia, Barry had the opportunity to play with the greats of the game including Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

Speaking to SkySports, Barry said: “I trained once with them, but it was a very low standard, it was set-piece training.

“I got called up from the B team and I can say that I have trained with Messi.

“I know people say I’ve been around for ages, for me looking back when I was younger, I’m proud of it.”

Barry may only be 21 but definitely has the experience to make the next step up, and this could be a tool Leeds could utilise if their interest in the young striker was to grow.
