After performances like the one against Blackburn Rovers, Leeds United may need to reassess their chances of automatic promotion this season, with the Whites yet again frustrated.
Leeds United went into the New Year in 1st place of the Championship table, full of life after a hard-fought 1-0 win at Derby County in their last outing.
They welcomed a Blackburn Rovers side who’ve been a surprise package this season, starting the day in 5th under John Eustace who’s often proved a bit of a bogey manager for Leeds under Farke.
And Eustace’s side proved so again. Leeds United eventually drew 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers after a frantic end to the game saw Pascal Struijk score from the spot for Leeds, only for Blackburn to equaliser two minutes later, in the 90th minute of the game.
Eustace was fuming with the penalty given to Leeds, insisting that his side wouldn’t have been given the same decision at the other end of the pitch.
Farke’s post-match comments focussed more on his own team though, with the German making a new claim about his side’s plans for the January transfer window.

Daniel Farke’s January transfer window claim after Leeds United draw vs Blackburn Rovers
During the game against Blackburn, Leeds saw full-backs Sam Byram and Jayden Bogle both come off early.
Afterwards, Farke revealed that Byram and Bogle’s injuries aren’t serious and that they should be fit to face Hull City on Saturday.
Despite two new injury worries, and a handful of names already being injured, Farke insists his side’s January transfer plans won’t be changing anytime soon.
He told LeedsLive after the game: “Our recruitment is prepared for every scenario. We’re just being reactive in the market because we can’t afford to have four or five players in every position.
“I don’t think these injuries are that serious. “This game won’t influence the January window.”

What Daniel Farke previously said about Leeds United’s January transfer plans
Leeds have been linked with 19 potential signings in the build up to January, so it certainly seems like the Whites could do business.
But speaking before the window opened, Farke suggested Leeds will be quiet in January. He said at the start of December: “I don’t want to talk to about it too much as we have eight games until then.
“Potentially, some injuries of key players and what are we like in each position. If you ask me now though, I don’t expect signings.”
With Farke’s mind unchanged after that Blackburn game, and with a couple of new injury worries in Byram and Bogle, it remains true that Leeds will be relatively reserved in January.
But all that could change with a key injury or two in the coming weeks.
