Leeds United fans go ‘insane’ after watching ‘shocking’ player vs Blackburn Rovers

Leeds United’s game against Blackburn Rovers was as frustrating a game as we’ve seen all season. But one player left fans going ‘insane’.

Daniel Farke will get his share of critics after Leeds United’s 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers.

Once again, John Eustace has proved a thorn in Farke’s side with his Blackburn side setting up deep against Leeds, and frustrating them throughout the game at Elland Road.

Leeds dominated possession but couldn’t get anywhere near the Rovers goal. Pascal Struijk eventually broke the deadlock late on from the spot, though Rovers would equaliser minutes later with Danny Batth scoring a scrappy goal.

Sam Byram leaves Leeds United fans unimpressed after Blackburn Rovers display

Sam Byram started the game at left-back for Leeds. But a pretty dire first half saw him subbed at the break.

One Leeds fan said on X: “Thinking Byram came off due to form, and not the fact he’s played so much,” which summed up how fans felt about his performance on New Year’s Day.

Another fan said of Byram: “Just isn’t very good providing anything in attack from the left,” as someone else added: “Byram is killing us. Get him off.”

Others described Byram’s performance as ‘shocking’ and that the 31-year-old is ‘painful to watch in games like this’.

Another posted: “If I have to watch Byram receive the ball in a crossable position only to pass it backwards for any longer I’m going to go insane.”

One Leeds fan said: “Byram is killing us down that left hand side.”

The answer might be clear for Daniel Farke and Leeds United

Byram is naturally right-footed, and when the left-footed Max Wober came on at half-time, it instantly gave Leeds more balance.

Though Wober wasn’t that impressive when he came on, Leeds as a unit looked better. Wober could travel down the wing and attempt crosses whereas Byram is always forced inside, which is very predictable for opposition defenders.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see who Farke opts with in the next game against Hull City on Saturday.
