Leeds United are eyeing a move for Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff this summer.
Sean Longstaff has been on loan to the likes of Blackpool and Kilmarnock but a summer switch to West Yorkshire would be his first permanent move away from his boyhood club.
Longstaff was first linked to the Whites back in March 2024 and persistent Leeds links to Longstaff won’t go away any time soon. It’s therefore no surprise that Eddie Howe has opened the door for Longstaff to leave Newcastle this summer.
Sandro Tonali believes Longstaff is underrated but another teammate of the Italian’s could also be on the move to Leeds this summer, with Daniel Farke looking to bolster his forward line at Leeds United as well.

Callum Wilson could join Sean Longstaff at Leeds United
The 49ers are looking at Premier League targets, and Newcastle’s Callum Wilson is certainly one of the players on their radar after it was revealed in March that Wilson would leave Newcastle this summer.
Given his lack of game time and a worsening injury record, the chances are that Wilson will leave on a free and Leeds are among the clubs interested in Wilson. Of course, any move for £110k-per-week Wilson is not guaranteed.
However, The Sun have an update on the situation of Longstaff’s teammate. Farke is reported to be “desperate for more firepower” and Leeds are eyeing up Wilson on a free transfer once his contract expires this summer.
Wilson has moved down the pecking order due to the unbelievable form of striker Alexander Isak, with his peak years behind him now after he won nine England caps, too.
The report also reaffirms Leeds’ interest in Longstaff, although it outlines that Longstaff could stick around in the North East due to the fact he is a club-grown player for their European quota.

Eddie Howe’s Callum Wilson verdict amid Leeds interest
As quoted by The Chronicle, back in November, Howe still holds the 33-year-old in high regard. Wilson is one of Newcastle’s highest goalscoring players in the Premier League era behind Alan Shearer and Isak.
Howe said: “Callum’s got outstanding qualities. I know everyone in football has short memories, but you look at what Callum has done since I’ve been here — when he’s been on the pitch, he’s been incredible.”
“That Champions League season, the way he and Alex (Isak) dovetailed together, to help each other and help the team to produce some brilliant performances and results was brilliant to see.”
| Team | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Coventry City | 55 | 23 | 7 |
| Kettering Town | 17 | 1 | 0 |
| Tamworth | 3 | 1 | 2 |
| AFC Bournemouth | 187 | 67 | 28 |
| Newcastle United | 128 | 49 | 11 |
| England | 9 | 2 | 1 |
He may not be the same player, having failed to register a single goal or assist this term, but Wilson’s Premier League experience could be invaluable to a Leeds side perhaps lacking in that department.
