With Adam Underwood, The 49ers and Daniel Farke working hard to bring new signings to Leeds United this summer, they will also have to sell players to comply with Profit & Sustainability Rules.

PSR is not expected to be an issue for Leeds this summer but The 49ers have made a £150m transfer budget available and if Underwood spends all of that, then Leeds may have to sell a couple of players.

Not just for PSR reasons, but Leeds will also have to sell to make room for an expected influx of new signings. Max Wober has already said that Leeds have told him he will be sold in the coming weeks.

Illan Meslier, Patrick Bamford, Jack Harrison, Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Darko Gyabi have also been touted with the exit door, while Junior Firpo and Sam Byram are set to see their contracts expire.

Leeds are in talks to sell Mateo Joseph for a bargain £6.75m fee

Mateo Joseph is another candidate for a summer sale. Leeds rejected a £10m bid for Joseph from La Liga side Real Betis in the January window, a side that reached the Europa Conference League final this term.

Joseph only managed three goals and is arguably the club’s third-choice striker behind Bamford and Joel Piroe. Expendable and in the eyes of PSR, any sale of Joseph would be seen as pure profit by the rules.

Spanish outlet Diario De Sevilla say Real Betis are in talks with Leeds to do a deal for Joseph again. They say that talks are at an advanced stage with Betis paying £6.75m, but including a 20% future clause.

Indeed, the 20% clause would see Leeds receive a fifth of Joseph’s next sale. Not 20% of the profit made on the future sale, but an entire fifth of his next move. If Joseph is sold for £10m, Leeds will get £2m.

With Joseph likely to leave Leeds, which strikers do Leeds want?

Plenty of forwards have been linked with a move to Elland Road already. Most-recently, Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz has been touted with a move to Leeds – but the Brazilian ace has been rated at a whopping £50m.

More realistic options include Lecce’s Montenegro international Nikola Krstovic, while Leeds have told AZ Alkmaar that they will not pay £25m for Troy Parrott. Everton star Beto has also been linked with Leeds.

But nothing is as far along as a deal for Udinese defender Jaka Bijol at the moment, with Slovenia ace Bijol expected to arrive at Elland Road for a fee between £12.7m and £15.2m in the coming days and weeks.
