Time might be coming to an end for Junior Firpo at Leeds United. The former Barcelona man has growing options ahead of the summer transfer window with his contract set to expire.
Junior Firpo sees his Leeds United contract expire at the end of the season, and for some time now there’s been debate over whether or not the club should hand him a new deal.
On the one hand, Leeds United fans think Firpo should be let go with the 28-year-old a high-earner at the club, and someone who didn’t exactly blow the Premier League away either.
On the other, Firpo has certainly been impressive in these last few weeks. Since returning to the fold he’s grabbed himself five assists in his last seven games, with goals in his last two outings.
Firpo scored in Leeds United’s 1-1 draw against West Brom last time out, rising high to head home as though he’s a no.9.

Leeds United add Hugo Bueno to summer transfer radar
Ahead of the summer, more and more players are being linked with moves to West Yorkshire, and more and more full-backs are being mentioned alongside the club with Sam Byram another out of contract at Elland Road.
Earlier in the year, Leeds were linked with Kyle Walker-Peters at Southampton: he’s out of contract in the summer and capable of playing at both left and right-back.
More recently, Leeds United have been linked with Hugo Bueno. The 22-year-old is on loan at Feyenoord from Wolves this season where he’s played 14 times in the Eredivisie and eight times in the Championship.
And Bueno is an out and out left-back. He could be an ideal, long-term replacement for Firpo and so it begs the idea that Firpo is looking likely to leave this summer.

Junior Firpo’s veiled message over Leeds United future
Throughout the season, Firpo has had transfer interest with links to the likes of Besiktas and Real Betis.
And more recently, Dominican international Firpo has changed agencies ahead of the summer, joining an agency that represents a lot of Spanish players which may suggest that he’s ready to move back to Spain.
That, combined with the fact that Leeds are looking at a growing number of full-backs suggests that there might be an acceptance behind the scenes at Thorp Arch that Firpo is leaving this summer.
There’s still 11 games of the season left to play though and anything could change. First and foremost, Firpo and everyone at the club will be focussed on promotion.
