Leeds United miss out again as Premier League team sign up £30m target, it’s not Sunderland

It’s been a rollercoaster of a transfer window for Leeds United this summer already.

Despite some strong additions joining the club, the 49ers might not be totally fulfilled with their start.

This could be due to Sunderland signing Habib Diarra, who seemed like a top target in the eyes of Leeds.

Matters were made worse as Sunderland also nabbed alternative Noah Sadiki, as Regis Le Bris’ side aren’t messing about.

Thankfully, this time, the Mackems won’t be signing this Leeds target, but someone has got there first.

Leeds United miss out on target Michael Keane to Everton

From the Whites’ point of view, when trying to find that midfielder Anton Stach could be the better option, that is if Le Bris doesn’t sign him as well…

Nevertheless, it isn’t their fellow newly-promoted team causing the problems this time, as instead they might not have acted quick enough.

Leeds were interested in Everton defender Michael Keane as his contract was expiring.

It didn’t look like David Moyes was going to follow through with a new deal, but that has been firmly put to bed as Everton have announced a one-year extension for the 32-year-old.

Although missing out on another target is frustrating, this time it certainly isn’t the worst outcome.

Leeds shouldn’t have to sign any more centre-backs this summer

With two new centre-backs already through the door, Daniel Farke now has five solid options in the middle of defence.

Joe Rodon
Jaka Bijol
Sebastiaan Bornauw
Ethan Ampadu
Pascal Struijk

This is a strong roster in terms of their status in the Premier League, but now the 49ers should be looking at other areas of the squad.

Yes, Keane would’ve provided Premier League experience which some of these options have minimally, but another centre-back signing would’ve given Farke a headache.

The only possibility of still signing Keane is if Pascal Struijk leaves Leeds, which still remains a real prospect.

Attention should turn elsewhere, as targets are still being taken from underneath Leeds’ grasp, as further up the pitch needs some new recruits.
