Illan Meslier has had a strong turnaround at Leeds United but during January Daniel Farke did look at the possibility of replacing the Frenchman.
Meslier endured a tough time at Leeds only just a month ago after shocking errors against Hull City.
Leeds fans wanted Meslier sold but after six clean sheets in seven Championship games, it seems the 24-year-old is back in the fanbase’s good books.
Fans would’ve loved him more after Meslier was spotted gesturing towards the Sunderland fans.
But the Leeds no.1 could’ve found himself replaced had a January bid from the Whites got accepted.

Leeds United made a bid for goalkeeper amid Illan Meslier criticism
It seems as though it’s a silver lining after Meslier’s form, but it could have been a lot different.
Leeds wanted Sweden goalkeeper Noel Tornqvist in January but a move never came to fruition saving Meslier’s blushes.
However, the print edition of Swedish outlet, Fotboll Direkt (22/02/25) suggests that Leeds’ failure to sign Mjallby keeper Tornqvist is due to a bid being rejected.
According to the journalist, Ola Gustavsson, Mjallby sporting director Hasse Larsson had rejected bids for players which included Tornqvist, who was wanted by Leeds.
Gustavsson claimed that his information suggests that Mjallby received ‘bids of around £750,000’ for Tornqvist, with the Whites submitting their own.
Tornqvist dreamed of a move to Leeds and it seems like a missed opportunity from all parties.

Leeds should trust in Meslier now, but it’s his last chance
As mentioned the whole situation seems like a silver lining after Meslier’s form.
However, despite Leeds retaining the trust in their keeper, he’s on his final warning.
If Leeds get promoted with Meslier in goal, the likelihood is that Farke will stick with his current selection.
But any more mistakes from the Frenchman could cost his spot, as if Farke and Leeds were willing to replace him once before, there is every opportunity they will do it again.
