Three Rangers players who Leeds United could sign as Paraag Marathe eyes £100m investment

Paraag Marathe and the 49ers are setting their sights in achieving a stake in Rangers alongside their ownership of Leeds United.

This could lead to the possibility of collaboration as Leeds fans suspect a multi-club model is being formed.

Whether it’s a good idea or not, a spanner might have been put in the works for how the Whites now go about their business.

Rangers have an estimated £100m value, so Marathe will be putting a lot of his wealth into the Scottish giants.

However, this could open up an opportunity for Leeds who could end up signing some players from the Gers, and these are three possible targets.

Ridvan Yilmaz

Daniel Farke won’t know where Junior Firpo’s future at Leeds lies, as Firpo changed his agent, making it likely he’ll be finding the exit door at Elland Road.

Farke wanted a full-back in January and due to a spot potentially being available, Ridvan Yilmaz will be the perfect solution.

Yilmaz made the move to the Ibrox in 2022 for just £3.4m after showing a lot of promise at Besiktas.

However, now in his third season, the 23-year-old is struggling for game time under Phillipe Clement, after just 13 league appearances, and three outings in the Europa League.

Yilmaz would suit Leeds to a tee as he is more than capable enough to go forward which is exactly what Farke likes with his full-backs, and he would make for an astute signing in the Premier League if promoted.

Hamza Igamane

It’s ambitious but if Leeds get to the top flight it has every chance to happen.

Hamza Igamane has been the subject of interest from the Premier League in January as Everton are admirers, but Rangers have set a £25 million asking price (TEAMtalk) for Igamane.

With Leeds potentially making the jump back to the Premier League, the Whites could find themselves on a similar level as Everton and could put their hat in the ring for Igamane.

Joel Piroe has been firing on all cylinders this season, but Leeds are eyeing striker targets, and Igamane would be a solid grab after his 13 goals in his debut season for the Gers.

Marcus Tavernier

Now this would be exciting.

Marcus Tavernier can be classed as a Rangers legend, as he has now entered his tenth season in Scotland, and it’s been a highly successful career for the 33-year-old, but the right-back could leave the Ibrox this summer.

Tavernier’s contract expires in 2026 but according to TEAMtalk, Rangers aren’t looking to renew his contract, leaving the door open for Tavernier to take the next step in his career.

Being English and starting his career in England, the veteran full-back may opt for a return to the Premier League.

Having previously struggled with Newcastle United, Tavernier had several loans in the EFL, but Leeds could make for a strong option.

The likelihood of this happening increases after Tavernier came through the Whites academy having spent seven years at Thorp Arch.

Farke wouldn’t say no to a bit of experience, and Tavernier has an extraordinary attacking record from full-back also being excellent at set-pieces which could be a useful tool in the top flight.

The fact he’s from Bradford could give him every reason to return close to home.
