Leeds United were only expected to have a quiet January transfer window but that has not stopped rumours circulating, with another new player linked with a move to Elland Road.
Daniel Farke said he expects a quiet January window. But since then, numerous reports have emerged over the future of a few current Leeds stars, with Joe Gelhardt keen on a move away from Leeds.
Hardly surprising given his lack of game time since the arrival of Farke. Max Wober is also being linked with a return to former club Red Bull Salzburg, which would see two Red Bull clubs do some business.
Graeme Bailey even told LeedsUnited.News there is the potential of a swap between Leeds and Salzburg involving Wober. Now, Leeds are being linked with a nine-goal, in-form striker ahead of January.
Leeds United fans react as club linked with striker Dor Turgeman
Leeds are supposedly interested in Maccabi Tel Aviv striker Dor Turgeman, with the forward in good form in Israel. He’s scored 21 career goals, with 11 of Turgeman’s goals coming under Robbie Keane last term.
Given Leeds already have four strikers available to them, fans have reacted to the reports by predicting an exit for Patrick Bamford in the January window. Farke says Bamford is still “crucial”, but that may change.
One fan responded to the news on X by saying that a move for Turgeman doesn’t make sense, “unless we offload Bamford.” Graham Smyth has predicted that Bamford will leave at the end of the current season.
Other Leeds fans discussed whether Turgeman would be a good signing at Elland Road. One posted: “He looks good, he looks fine.” Another said Leeds “definitely need another option.”
Another clearly has trust in Leeds’ recruitment team that has brought in the likes of Ao Tanaka, Largie Ramazani, Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon over the last two years: “If he is good enough, get him in.”
What Dor Turgeman said about his future back in September
After scoring 11 goals under Keane last season, Turgeman was linked with a move to MLS club New England Revolution in the summer. But nothing materialised and he stayed put at his boyhood club.
Speaking about his future shortly after the summer window in September, Turgeman said there is no harm in staying put until the right opportunity comes along but is clearly, ready to move if he is ready.
Turgeman opened the door on a possible move and if Leeds are serious about a move for the striker, then a deal is easily done given his £4m price tag. Whether or not Leeds move in January, is unclear.
