Daniel Farke may have suggested he wants a quiet January, but Leeds United have set their sights on signing a new striker when the window opens.

Leeds‘ frontline has certainly split opinion so far this season with it clear Farke is yet to find his preferred number nine option.

Mateo Joseph started Leeds’ opening eight league matches but after struggling to find goals on a consistent basis, was dropped for Joel Piroe back in October.

Piroe has kept his place in all but one match since but almost all of his best performances have come as a substitute. In fact, four of his seven goals have been off the bench and Darren Bent believes Piroe is a weak-link in this current Leeds side.

Patrick Bamford is Leeds’ third choice striker, but he’s played just 77 minutes all season and Graham Smyth believes an exit could arrive in the coming months.

Leeds want January deal for Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Dor Turgeman

With Leeds currently sat just outside the top two it is clear this will be another automatic promotion battle that could go to the wire.

As such, sitting on their laurels like they did in January last season could prove costly and striker is a position that could clearly do with upgrading.

According to Sport5, Leeds are interested in a January deal for Maccabi Tel Aviv striker Dor Turgeman. A fee of just £4.1 million could be enough to get the deal done.

Turgeman is an international teammate of Israel’s Manor Solomon and this latest report comes from the same site that called the Tottenham winger’s loan to Elland Road.

It is said that Leeds have already ‘officially approached’ Maccabi Tel Aviv after watching him in action this season, and they believe he can come in and make an immediate impact.

However, something that could make a deal difficult is that Maccabi Tel Aviv do not want to sell him until the end of the season.

Who is Leeds United target Dor Turgeman?

Turgeman is only 21 but has already been capped on seven occasions at senior level for Israel.

He is currently enjoying the best season of his career at the moment having found the net nine times in 16 appearances for Tel Aviv.

Four of those nine goals have come in the Europa League, including one against La Liga side Real Sociedad back in October.

Turgeman is very much a number nine and so it will be interesting to see if Leeds do push the button on a move in January.
