Following Red Bull’s investment in Leeds United over the summer, it will be interesting to see whether that could help facilitate a return to Salzburg for Max Wober.
RB Salzburg are keen on re-signing Wober in the January transfer window following his lack of game time at Leeds this season.
Wober has played just just two matches in the Championship since his return from a loan spell at Borussia Monchengladbach, giving him little opportunity to help rebuild his relationship with Leeds fans.
Much of the Leeds faithful would be happy to sell Wober next month but that would certainly be ill-advised if they cannot find a suitable replacement.
Particularly in January, Leeds could find it difficult to find a defender as good as Wober who would happy to come and play second fiddle to Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk.

Leeds in ‘talks’ over Red Bull, Wober swap
Though Red Bull‘s ownership of clubs like Leipzig and Salzburg has caused controversy down the years due to the change of stadium/club names, badges and kits, one thing they have been hugely successful wat is scouting.
Amid the departures of Gretar Steinsson and Jordan Miles from Leeds’ recruitment team in recent weeks it will be interesting to see if the Whites start leaning on Red Bull more when it comes to their own transfers.
And speaking exclusively to LeedsUnited.News, transfer expert Graeme Bailey has revealed that could be the case ahead of January, amid Salzburg’s interest in Wober.
Bailey says Leeds and Red Bull are in ‘regular contact’ and talks have been held over a potential deal for Wober, that could see players from either Leipzig or Salzburg come the other way to replace him.
He said: “We are told that Leeds, now part of the Red Bull network, are in regular contact and as part of those talks, there was talks about Wober and a potential loan to Salzburg.
“Wober is concerned about his lack of game time but Leeds generally think he has a big part to play. However, there are players at both Leipzig and Salzburg who are available and could help cover Wober, whilst also bolstering Leeds’ options.
“We are told that conversations are continuing, and even if Wober does not leave – we could very well see players arriving at Elland Road from elsewhere in the Red Bull network.”
Salzburg deal for Wober starting to ‘take shape’
Speculation has been mounting and mounting in recent days about a move to Salzburg for Wober.
Rouven Schröder was recently appointed as the club’s new sporting director and refused to rule out a January deal for Wober.
Now, the Salzburger Nachrichten have shared a new update on the Austrian side’s interest by suggesting a deal is already starting to ‘take shape’.
If that report is correct, then using Red Bull as a way to secure a quick replacement could be the best strategy for Leeds to take.
