Leeds United chief to follow Gretar Steinsson out of Elland Road exit door after just nine months in role

Gretar Steinsson isn’t the only behind-the-scenes member of Leeds United’s recruitment team set to leave Elland Road ahead of January.

Steinsson had been technical director for just over a year at Leeds following his arrival from Tottenham, playing a key role in each of the last three transfer windows.

However, Steinsson is now set to take up a similar role within the 49ers Enterprises‘ global football group, with Leeds said to have no plans to bring in a replacement.

The former Iceland international had been part of a newly formed recruitment team put together by the 49ers since their full takeover at Leeds, alongside Angus Kinnear, Nick Hammond, Jordan Miles and Adam Underwood.

All five worked closely with Daniel Farke on transfers during the summer but it now looks as though it could be all change heading into January.

Jordan Miles set to follow Steinsson out of Leeds

The role of head of recruitment was the one Leeds took the most time to appoint, eventually landing on Jordan Miles in February earlier this year.

Miles arrived from a similar position at Aberdeen and oversaw a chaotic summer transfer window where Leeds brought in eight new players to replace a large number of outgoings.

However, Miles’ time at Elland Road could already be over with Team Talk reporting he is set to leave the club before the January transfer window.

The report states Miles is set to follow Steinsson out of the exit door at Leeds suggesting that a ‘restructure of the recruitment team’ is on the cards.

As mentioned, there are no plans to replace Steinsson, but with Miles also seemingly on his way out it would leave Leeds a little light upstairs if they didn’t bring someone into succeed him.

It is not yet confirmed whether this is the club’s or Miles’ decision as of yet.
