Leeds United currently have five first team players out on loan from Elland Road this season but that could become more when the January transfer window opens.
Rasmus Kristensen, Jack Harrison, Sam Greenwood, Darko Gyabi and Sonny Perkins are all spending the year away from Elland Road and could be joined by at least one more.
Joe Gelhardt is keen on a loan switch away next month after yet another long period of his career where he has barely kicked a ball.
Incidentally, two of the clubs to have been linked with Gelhardt include Preston North End and Plymouth Argyle, which is where Greenwood and Gyabi are spending the season respectively.
Max Wober is another attracting interest, though Leeds fans have urged any potential exit for him to be permanent rather than on loan, as former club Red Bull Salzburg circle.
Leeds loanee Sam Greenwood praised by PNE teammate
Of Leeds‘ current five loanees, the player enjoying the most success at the moment is Sam Greenwood at Preston North End.
As a team PNE may be struggling for results but Greenwood is enjoying his best run of the season, scoring four goals and providing two assists in the last eight matches.
Paul Heckingbottom’s side haven’t actually won any of those games but without Greenwood’s contributions in front of goal, some of those six draws would’ve been defeats instead.
As a result of his fine form, Greenwood’s PNE teammate Will Keane was asked about the quality Leeds’ loanee has brought to Deepdale, with the experience striker hailing his ‘technical ability’ and work rate.
He told the Lancashire Evening Post: “Yeah, he’s a brilliant player and like you say, very intelligent. You see the technical ability he has got, but then, also, the other side of it I think he offers a lot without the ball. He’s always working hard for the team and putting his body in.
“He clearly has that understanding in and out of possession, and the manager clearly trusts him. His performances have been great of late and obviously, we need him to keep it going.”

How long is left on Sam Greenwood’s Leeds contract?
Greenwood will undoubtedly still harness hope of having a future at Leeds and the form he’s been in recently shows that.
However, to have any chance of becoming part of Daniel Farke‘s squad he will need to continue producing these performances consistently, particularly with his contract situation.
Greenwood will have just 12 months left to run on his deal at the end of the season, which will give Leeds a decision to make.
It could be that Leeds view it as their final chance to make a bit of money on him, but if he can keep scoring and assisting, it just might prompt a change of mind.
