With the January transfer window honing into view, Leeds United have been linked with a handful of new players and one reported target opened the door to a transfer back in September.
Leeds have a pretty well-balanced squad and Daniel Farke has made it clear he expects a quiet January. But the market changes quickly and Leeds could be tempted to solve a couple of issues next month.
Graham Smyth expects Leeds to try and sign a no.10, while a long-term replacement for Junior Firpo may be considered if the Dominican Republic man chooses not to sign a new deal – his current expires in June.
Even a new striker might be a priority for Farke, with Joe Gelhardt keen on leaving Leeds. Patrick Bamford, Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph remain but it is clear that Farke is still unsure which of the three is his best.
New Leeds target Dor Turgeman opens door to possible exit
Reports this week say that Leeds have approached Maccabi Tel Aviv to sign Dor Turgeman. The Israel star, a teammate of Manor Solomon’s at National Team level, has impressed this season with nine goals in 16.
It is understood that a fee of £4.1m could be enough to convince Tel Aviv to cash in. Whether the reports hold any weight remain to be seen, but speaking in September, Turgeman opened the door on an exit.
“I am here and doing the best I possibly can. What will happen in the future is difficult to know. I didn’t deal with the offers that were mentioned, I kept working and focusing on Maccabi Tel Aviv,” he said.
“I don’t regret any decision. I don’t think that rushing to move is a good thing. One has to be dominant here first, in the league, to lead the team. Then we will see,” Turgeman added on Maccabi Tel Aviv’s site.

Those will question whether Turgeman is good enough to play in the Championship and possible, the Premier League. He has only played for Maccabi Tel Aviv and obviously, the quality is quite some way off.

However, those that would be quick to judge must also consider that he has scored four goal in eight European games this season. Three in Europa League qualifying, one against La Liga side Real Sociedad.
There is no doubt that Turgeman is a player with big potential and while it might take him a bit of time to get used to the pace and physicality of the Championship, the technical ability and potential is there.
