As the 11pm transfer deadline looms, Leeds United are working relentlessly to get their first signing of the window over the line.

And for Daniel Farke, all attention seems to be on a deal for Southampton attacker Cameron Archer.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a deadline day move to Leeds United after the Whites failed to sign him in previous transfer windows.

Southampton are signing Victor Udoh from Royal Antwerp which may open the door for Archer to leave, though there seems to be a lot of moving parts here, and a lot of other clubs interested too.

For Farke, another longstanding Leeds target could become available in the dying hours of the window.

Leeds United could have last minute James McAtee opportunity

James McAtee has been in transfer headlines for months now. The Englishman seemingly wants out of Manchester City where gametime has been limited, and Leeds United have been linked throughout.

But the attacking midfielder remains at the Etihad with just hours of the window left. Telegraph report (09:57am, Monday February 3rd) that McAtee remains unlikely to leave the club but that it’s ‘not beyond the realms of possibility that something develops late’.

The 22-year-old has started just one game in 2025 for City, featuring once off the bench in his side’s last three.

The latest on Cameron Archer to Leeds United

Archer is Leeds’ no.1 target right now, and whilst McAtee could be a good backup option, pushing through a deal for the City man at this stage of the day feels unlikely.

The latest on Archer to Elland Road is that Leeds remain in pole position, but that Southampton are more likely to let Adam Armstrong leave on deadline day.

He has interest from Sunderland and Middlesbrough which could really threaten a Leeds deal for Archer, who remains an exciting potential signing for the Whites in their bid for promotion.
