Leeds United are working hard behind the scenes to strengthen Daniel Farke’s side before the end of the January transfer window, but it might be a recognisable face that ends up at Elland Road.

Leeds remain top of the Championship and are well-positioned in the race for automatic promotion. The draw against Burnley saw Leeds increase their lead on Sheffield United by a point, three ahead of Burnley.

The Whites are desperate to bring in some new faces. Daniel Farke started the window by saying a quiet window was expected but after the draw at Burnley, Farke suggested a new signing might be imminent.

A no.10 is expected to be a priority, with Julio Enciso choosing Ipswich Town over Leeds and Emi Buendia set to join Bayer Leverkusen. But Farke has said that a striker and a centre-back is also on his agenda.

Jack Harrison in line for shock Leeds United return this month

Interestingly, The Mail claim that 28-year-old Jack Harrison could be the new face in at Thorp Arch this month. Since relegation, Harrison has gone on loan to Everton using Victor Orta’s relegation clause.

Impressing at Everton last season, Harrison has struggled this time around. Failing to score or assist since February 2024, Everton fans are growing impatient with Harrison who continues to get lots of game time.

The Mail say that if Leeds don’t get a new attacking player in at Elland Road over the course of the next few days, then it might be Harrison returns to Leeds and his loan at Everton is thrown on the scrapheap.

The clause situation in Jack Harrison’s Everton loan deal

It is not as easy as Leeds simply recalling Harrison. Many reports have said that there is no recall clause in Harrison’s loan at Everton and that means The Toffees themselves would have to scrap the loan deal.

Even if his form has been poor, Everton will surely want to keep Harrison unless they can bring in a new winger before the deadline. If they are after a new signing, it might be they want to free up some wages.

But the chances of a Harrison return to Leeds are small. Everton would have to cancel the loan and Leeds fans are hardly going to want the winger back having jumped ship since the club were relegated.
