There’s more and more strikers being linked with summer moves to Leeds United, and some of them would make for very exciting signings.
Leeds United needed a striker in the January transfer window. Daniel Farke’s options up top are very thin on the ground with Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph his only fit strikers, given the injury to Patrick Bamford.
But the Whites didn’t sign anyone in the January transfer window. Despite that they remain in 1st place of the Championship table, albeit despite a little wobble of late with one win, one draw, and one defeat in their last three.
Last time out, Leeds returned to winning ways after beating Millwall 2-0 at Elland Road. It’s reopened a two point lead at the top and Leeds are back on track for promotion, but it can’t be denied that another striker signing might have been exactly what Leeds needed to make this promotion push more straight-forward.
Several strikers are linked with Leeds United right now including the likes of Tammy Abraham and Sunderland’s Wilson Isidor. Another is Josh Sargent.

Josh Sargent transfer update shared amid links to Leeds United
Ahead of the summer, it’s been reported that Farke wants to sign Sargent at Leeds United, amid what’s been a rather stunning 2024/25 so far for the Leeds boss’ former Norwich City hitman. Sargent, 25, has scored 12 goals and assisted five more in 24 Championship outings, ranking him third in the league’s top scorer’s list.
Posting on X, Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed that there’s now Premier League and Bundesliga interest in the striker, who Norwich City value at €15-20million (£12.66-16.88million). Norwich previously paid Werder Bremen £8million to sign Sargent in 2021.
Interestingly, Plettenberg hints at Sargent being open to a summer move, adding that he’s ‘planning his next step’, with his Canaries side sitting in 12th place of the Championship table and seven points outside the top six.

Mauricio Pochettino thinks very highly of Josh Sargent
Sargent is back in the USMNT side for this month’s international break. And his international boss Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking very highly of him indeed.
Pochettino thinks Sargent is the best striker in the Championship right now, saying: “He is the most in-form striker in his league. We are talking about a player who is doing really well in the Championship.”
Leeds would almost certainly need promotion to be able to both afford a deal for Sargent, and to be able to tempt him too, with interest now emerging from the English and German top flights.
But linking up with Farke once again could certainly be an attractive proposition for Sargent, whose Norwich side faces West Brom on Saturday.
