The March international break is just around the corner. First up though, Leeds United face a trip to QPR, and it’s a trip that’s proved mostly unsuccessful in the last few years.
Leeds United fans may have very unpleasant recent memories of watching their team at Loftus Road.
Towards the end of last season, QPR secured their Championship safety with a stunning 4-0 at home to Leeds United, who’ve actually lost their last four away games against the R’s.
It doesn’t bode well for the Whites ahead of the weekend. Form is already patchy and Daniel Farke is already facing a brewing mutiny from Leeds fans on social media.
But a win on Saturday would ease the tension going into the break, and Leeds go into this game on the back of a much-needed 2-0 win over Millwall at Elland Road in midweek as well.
The two week break will be a great time for Farke to take stock. The summer ahead will promise new signings whether the Whites go up or not, and we could see one or even two new strikers arrive in West Yorkshire.

What Mauricio Pochettino has said about Leeds United target Josh Sargent
Leeds United have several strikers on their shortlist right now. And one of those linked is Norwich City and USMNT man Josh Sargent: the 25-year-old is one of six Championship strikers on 12 goals in this current campaign, with an impressive five assists to his name as well.
He sits behind Joel Piroe on 15 goals and the league’s top scorer, Sargent’s Norwich teammate Borja Sainz on 16 goals for the season so far. But speaking to the press recently, USMNT boss Mauricio Pochettino believes it is Sargent who’s the most in form striker in the second tier right now.
He explained: “He is the most in-form striker in his league. We are talking about a player who is doing really well in the Championship.”
The former Spurs boss then gave a nod to Brenden Aaronson, who’s been left out of the USMNT squad for the upcoming international break, saying: “You asked me before about Brendan Aaronson; he is also playing in the Championship. They are not in the Premier League, Serie A, La Liga or a first division, but we need players who are performing well.”

What Chris Sutton thinks about Josh Sargent amid Leeds United links
Speaking recently, former Norwich hitman Chris Sutton gave his verdict on Sargent amid what’s been a stunning 2024/25 campaign for the American, and Sutton outed Sargent as ‘the best striker in the Championship’ right now.
He said: “I think Sargent is the best striker in the Championship. The way I feel about him when he plays is that I always fancy Norwich to win. He leads the line really well – I’d be surprised if he’s still at Norwich City next season.”
Whilst Piroe has more goals, and may well be the better finisher, Sargent seems like the more rounded striker of the two, and praise from the likes of Sutton and now Pochettino is a credit to how much he’s come along this season.
Piroe had a stinker against Portsmouth recently and it’s maybe a reminder that he needs that extra competition to stay at his best. Someone like Sargent arriving in the summer would give him just that, and give Farke a really potent couple of striker options too.
