Graham Potter makes decision as £5.8m Leeds United target offered to West Ham

Leeds United are expected to be in the market for a new striker in the coming weeks with plenty of names being linked with a move to Elland Road in the coming weeks.

With Joe Gelhardt leaving Leeds on loan to join Hull City, and Patrick Bamford expected to be sidelined until the end of the month with a hamstring injury, Daniel Farke is left with just two options up top.

The likes of Aston Villa’s Louie Barry, Israel international Dor Turgeman and Middlesbrough forward Emmanuel Latte Lath have all been targeted – though Latte Lath looks like he is off to Atlanta United.

Another striker linked with Leeds is Hoffenheim’s Mergim Berisha. The Germany international is a target for The Whites, with Leeds told a fee of £5.8m will get a deal done for Berisha in the next fortnight.

Leeds United target Mergim Berisha now offered to West Ham

Berisha joined Hoffenheim in the summer of 2023 after a spell of good form at Augsburg, playing seven times before suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Berisha has changed his agents to move.

Hoffenheim’s stance is clear. Berisha has not been involved in their last two matchday squads and now Florian Plettenberg says West Ham have been offered Berisha – but Graham Potter is not interested.

“Mergim Berisha was recently offered to West Ham. However, he is not a hot topic. The 26-y/o striker from TSG Hoffenheim is currently not a transfer target for West Ham. They are considering other options.”

What Leeds sources are saying about signing Mergim Berisha

While Berisha has been linked on a number of occasions with Leeds in German media, the Evening Post say that are just rumours. But as the window enters the final couple of weeks, that could always change.

Those inside Leeds are hardly going to run to the media to share that Leeds are trying to sign a Germany striker. He is available and while requiring game time to get over the injury, he feels like a Farke signing.

Berisha will certainly be on his way in the coming fortnight. Whether that is to Leeds remains to be seen but one thing is for sure, his agents are pushing hard to try and find the German a new club this month.
