If Leeds United are to buy any new players in January, they will need to sell one or two if they are to comply with PSR guidelines come June 30, 2026.
According to Robbie Evans, the club’s managing director, Leeds maxed out PSR in the summer. Had they done a deal for Harry Wilson on the final day of the window, the club would have had to make a sale.
Ultimately, Fulham pulled the plug after failing to sign Tyrique George from Chelsea. Leeds remain on the right side of the PSR limit, but the club are expected to enter the January window for reinforcements.
Leeds then, will have to sell a player or two to give them PSR room. The obvious candidate for a sale in the winter window is Illan Meslier, who has been relegated to third choice after the signing of Lucas Perri.

Glen Kamara reunion mooted but Illan Meslier is not convinced
Little over 12 months ago, Glen Kamara joined Rennes for a fee north of £8m. Since then, the Finland ace has flopped in France and was sent on loan to Saudi side Al Shabab in January. He’s back at Rennes, now.
Like Meslier, Kamara finds himself way down the pecking order and is yet to play a single game this term. Jeunes Footeux claim Rennes want Meslier in January as they look to sign competition for Brice Samba.
However, the report states Meslier is not convinced and that is because former Nottingham Forest star Samba would remain first choice. Meslier is only willing to consider a move in January if he’s first choice.

Which other clubs have been linked with a move for Meslier?
The two strongest candidates in the summer window were Meslier’s old club Lorient, and Valencia. A Valencia side managed by Carlos Corberan, who worked with Meslier, and currently have Largie Ramazani.
Cesc Fabregas’ Como were offered Meslier but chose Noel Tornqvist, the Mjallby goalkeeper who has been linked with Leeds himself. LeedsUnited.News understands Paris Saint-Germain and Lille looked, too.
However, PSG and Lille would have seen Meslier provide back-up. It seems Meslier wants to be a no.1 and while that won’t be at Leeds, he wants to make sure it will be the case wherever his career takes him next.
