Daniel Farke will be hoping to pounce on transfer targets in the summer after the Whites’ misfortunes in January.

It was a dull window at Leeds, but it might not be all doom and gloom if Farke’s side achieve promotion this season.

The 49ers will be keeping a radar on all the targets they were linked with this winter, as Nico Elvedi could end up at Leeds.

Alongside this Marc Guiu was linked with a Leeds move but Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca said Guiu was injured.

Now Chelsea could provide a real blow in Leeds landing another target.

Fresh update emerges on £17m Leeds United target amid Chelsea interest

Leeds were linked with Sporting Lisbon’s Dario Essugo as the 19-year-old midfielder is looking like a promising prospect.

The Portuguese starlet has endured this season on loan with Las Palmas, as Essugo’s future remains up in the air.

It was supposed that Essugo was set for a £17m move to Chelsea, but a deal never came to fruition in January.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has given the latest surrounding Essugo’s future.

The Italian journalist said, Chelsea ‘keep monitoring’ Essugo for the future, after including his name in their January shortlist.

The 2005-born midfielder is considered an ‘interesting’ talent with plenty of developments expected in the coming months no doubt.

Leeds will find it hard to compete with Chelsea but might have advantage

You could say Leeds are slightly out of their depth when it comes to this deal with Todd Boehly waving his money around.

This isn’t a coincidence as it seems Chelsea tend to pick up any promising talent these days.

Essugo was the second-best U23 ball carrier, which comes as a surprise why more clubs aren’t in for the youngster.

What Leeds do have on Chelsea is game time, as Farke would definitely find a place for Essugo at Leeds, but the same can’t be said for Maresca’s increasing squad.

Despite Leeds looking like chasers in this deal, don’t count out on the 49ers just yet.
