Leeds United fans will be glad to see Kalvin Phillips’ message to a potential future transfer after knocking Frank Lampard out of the FA Cup.

Despite Leeds beating Coventry City 2-0 last Wednesday it hasn’t stopped the Whites contingent from frustrating Lampard.

Leeds fans were seen winding up Lampard as the feud between the club and the Chelsea legend continues.

Despite the dislike between the pair, Lampard still praised Leeds, but it didn’t stop his misfortunes continuing in the FA Cup.

Former Leeds star Phillips commented in response to a player the Whites are keen on after Ipswich Town dispatched Coventry on Saturday.

Phillips will of course always be a Whites hero in many fans’ hearts, as the 29-year-old has made an okay start to life with the Tractor Boys.

Leeds have eyed Ben Godfrey as the Whites could hope to land a summer deal after his loan spell with Ipswich.

With Phillips and Godfrey both playing on Saturday, they made it an afternoon to forget for Lampard, as Kieran McKenna’s side ran out 4-1 winners.

After the game, Phillips commented on Leeds target Godfrey’s Instagram post, saying: ‘Go on r kid’.

Leeds could land advantage in signing Godfrey in the summer

With Godfrey on loan at Ipswich from Atalanta, this doesn’t mean Leeds’ pursuit of the defender is over just yet.

The 27-year-old has been out of favour in the Serie A since his switch from Everton in the summer, and Daniel Farke will want to reunite with his centre-back after their time at Norwich City.

Despite Ipswich securing the January deal, Leeds could reignite summer interest in Godfrey.

The potential advantage Leeds have in the race for the defender all depends on whether Leeds gain promotion, and Ipswich fall to relegation in the Premier League, giving the Whites a serious upper hand in securing Godfrey next season.
