Fabrizio Romano has shared a new update on Leeds United’s search for more incoming transfers.
Daniel Farke has confirmed Leeds remain in the market for new signings, something which he hasn’t always done in transfer windows during his time at Elland Road.
Leeds have made a much quicker start to the window in comparison to 12 months ago, when they had only brought in Ethan Ampadu and Karl Darlow to replace a large number of outgoings.
This summer, however, they have already made four new signings and therefore given them enough time to settle into the squad before the season gets underway.
And it would be fair to say that all of Joe Rodon, Joe Rothwell and Jayden Bogle have not taken long to make an impact in the friendlies, with the latter even providing an assist on his debut.
Romano shares update on incomings at Leeds
Leeds’ recruitment team have been out in Germany alongside the playing squad this week as they look to keep up a consistent dialogue with Farke over signings.
It has been a quiet week since Bogle’s arrival was announced seven days ago, but work has continued behind-the-scenes, with Leeds making an offer for FC Koln’s Dejan Ljubicic.
It is believed Leeds’ offer was somewhere in the region of £3.3 million and they could even make a fresh approach before the end of the weekend.
That said, Koln are actually keen to hand Ljubicic a new deal and so the 26-year-old will not be the only players on Leeds’ midfield shortlist.
Speaking to Give Me Sport, Fabrizio Romano says midfield is absolutely their ‘top priority’ right now and are continuing to assess the market for different potential options.
He said: “Their top priority is midfield. They are looking for players in that position, especially after the deal for [Glen] Kamara. For sure, they want to do something there.
“I think it’s really important for them to understand in the next week or 10 days what happens with Summerville because it’s a crucial part of their market. Then, for sure, they can do something in midfield as one of their priorities.”
Romano shares new Crysencio Summerville Leeds exit update
Speaking to the same outlet, Romano has also shared an update on the future of Crysencio Summerville at Leeds.
Romano has confirmed West Ham United’s interest in the 22-year-old is genuine, but Leeds’ valuation could end up pricing the Hammers out of a move.
He said: “The interest is still there in Summerville. It’s an expensive package, so I’m not sure West Ham will be able to make it happen, but the interest is genuine.
“They had contacts on the player’s side and contacts on the club side after speaking to Leeds last week. He is one of the players they have on their shortlist.”
