Leeds United are not expected to make any new signings in the January transfer window but may be forced into the market if the club sell any of Daniel Farke’s players.

With the winter window just three weeks away, there are a handful of Leeds players being linked with a January move. Joe Gelhardt wants to leave Leeds, with QPR the latest club to show interest in Gelhardt.

Turkish side Besiktas are considering Junior Firpo with non-English sides able to move for Firpo on a pre-contract arrangement from January 1. It would see Firpo join Besiktas on a free at the end of the season.

Salzburg could look to bring Max Wober back, while Wolves have been touted as a possible landing spot for Wober. Though, the Austria international has just broken into the starting line-up at Elland Road.

Rennes now willing to pay £15m to sign Leeds man Illan Meslier

Earlier this week, reports said Ligue 1 side Rennes are interested in signing Illan Meslier. Rennes manager Jorge Sampaoli is keen on bringing in a replacement for 39-year-old veteran Steve Mandanda in January.

Meslier is one of two options, alongside PSV Eindhoven goalkeeper Walter Benitez. French site Football Club De Marseille says Rennes are willing to pay £15m for Meslier and Leeds may accept a January sale.

Indeed, the report mentions Meslier’s contract which is due to expire in 2026. They say January is the last window that Leeds can get top dollar for Meslier, and to avoid a free exit, they may decide to sell him.

What Graeme Bailey told us about Illan Meslier’s Leeds future

Despite the report’s claim, Leeds are unlikely to sell Meslier in January. He remains a key part of the side and Daniel Farke won’t want to lose his best players in the middle of the season amid a promotion push.

Graeme Bailey told LeedsUnited.News that Meslier will leave Leeds if the club fail to get promoted. The goalkeeper, who has 11 clean sheets in 20 Championship games, has an eye on the 2026 World Cup.

But every player has his price and after a summer full of sales, Glen Kamara’s Rennes does have cash to spend. If they table an offer too good to turn down, then Leeds may opt to cash in on Meslier in January.
