Kelechi Iheanacho was once quite a prolific Premier League striker. He’s been around for a long time but right now he’s struggling for form out in Spain. Leeds United are linked with a January swoop.
Leeds United are reportedly interested in Kelechi Iheanacho at Sevilla. The Nigerian striker joined the club in the summer after leaving Leicester City upon their promotion to the Premier League, though the 28-year-old has struggled for form.
In nine La Liga matches he’s yet to score for his new club. There’s now growing speculation that Iheanacho could leave Sevilla during the January transfer window, with more and more clubs seemingly taking an interest in the former Manchester City man.
Daniel Farke seems keen on signing a striker in January. Leeds United are linked with Mergim Berisha for one, but he looks set to move elsewhere, and Emmanuel Latte Lath at Middlesbrough another.
Iheanacho though is an exciting link and one that could really bolster the Whites’ frontline ahead of the run-in, with the likes of Joel Piroe having proved hit and miss so far in the 2024/25 season.

Sevilla look desperate to shift Iheanacho before the January transfer window slams shut on February 3rd. And the Spanish giants are ready to let him go for nothing, per a report from Spanish outlet Revelo.
They write that Iheanacho, who joined Sevilla on a free transfer from Leicester City in the summer and signed a two-year contract, ‘could leave for free’ in January. But the same report has revealed emerging interest from Greek side Panathinaikos.
Sevilla manager Garcia Pimienta previously revealed that the club has received offers for Iheanacho but Revelo go on to add that the striker is yet to receive an offer that appeals to him.

Kelechi Iheanacho overweight rumours debunked by Sevilla manager
Spanish media have speculated that Iheanacho isn’t performing at his best level because he’s currently overweight: a claim that’s been debunked by Pimienta on numerous occasions now.
Pimienta said of the rumours that Iheanacho is overweight: “He is at his weight. In that sense we are very strict. I don’t know about this week that he has not trained for a while, but this time he has been.”
For Leeds, who clearly seem keen on signing a striker in January, Iheanacho could be a shrewd capture.
He’s massively experienced in the Premier League with 42 goals at that level, and he’s surely desperate to play some regular football after a tough half-season in Spain.
Available for nothing too, this could be a very exciting potential signing for the Whites. Wages though could be an obstacle.
