Leeds United have been linked to various Argentine attackers this summer already, although not a purposeful strategy.

The window is still open and Leeds United want to add another match-winner to their ranks, with Gus Hamer and Emi Buendia linked to Leeds for months.

Now, Leeds are closing in on Facundo Buonanotte of Brighton ahead of the deadline. It has been reported that the Argentine international is close to a loan switch.

However, another Argentinian in Nico Gonzalez has been linked to Leeds for a few weeks now and it’s said Juventus value the Argentine at £26 million or so, but there has also been interest in Gonzalez from Atletico Madrid.

Nico Gonzalez set to stay at Juventus despite Leeds interest

It’s been reported that Gonzalez could remain in Turin, despite some others stating Gonzalez wants to leave Juventus and that he has handed in a transfer request.

Daniel Farke likes wingers of Nico Gonzalez’s profile; but it appears as though Buonanotte is the player his side have settled on in the end. Meanwhile, a final decision has been made on Gonzalez.

Per Fabrizio Romano, Juventus director Damien Comolli said: “In my view, Nico Gonzalez will stay with us as talks are not advanced at this stage”.

The versatile forward can operate more centrally as a striker but is predominantly a left-footed winger from the right-hand side. The 27-year-old has six goals and three assists in 43 games for Argentina.

The competition Leeds beat to sign Facundo Buonanotte

If Leeds were spinning many plates and landed on Buonanotte, then they are getting a player a number of clubs wanted and the Brighton attacker is a long-term Leeds target.

Leeds revived that Buonanotte interest this summer and both he and Buendia were serious considerations ahead of the deadline.

Leeds have remained at the table for Buonanotte after it was reported that Borussia Dortmund were knocked back for Buonanotte.

Although there has been late Lyon interest in Leeds target Buonanotte and that is perhaps why Graham Smyth’s social media account has been flooded by French football fan accounts.
