Daniel Farke has shared a new transfer update at Leeds United as the deadline fast approaches.

The Whites now have just less than 36 hours to complete any remaining signings and there is still plenty of work to be done.

As per reports, Leeds are closing in on the signings of two new players, both of which are in positions Daniel Farke has been wanting to strengthen for a while.

Ao Tanaka is currently at Thorp Arch undergoing a medical and putting the finishing touches on his move, and he is expected to be that goalscoring number eight.

At full-back, meanwhile, Leeds are also closing in on agreement to sign FC St Gallen full-back Isaac Schmidt, who is capable of playing on both sides.

Farke shares new Leeds transfer update

Both of those arrivals are expected to be finalised in good time before tomorrow’s 11pm deadline, meaning there could be time for another addition.

Leeds have been linked with Gustavo Hamer and Roland Sallai, both of whom would be capable of playing as a number 10, or in other positions.

Speaking in his pre-Hull City press conference, Farke was typically coy on the prospect of any new arrivals, but did hint that Leeds are still on the lookout for another attacker after Tanaka and Schmidt.

He said: “I just speak about players who are under contract. I respect other clubs. I never speak about players from other clubs. We have confirmed two important signings this week with Ramazani and Solomon.

“We’ve made clear which position we want to strengthen. I hope and expect there will be some business in the coming days. No rumours or names or anything.

“We definitely need midfield additions and full-back addition. We stay awake in the offensive positions. These are definitely the areas. Things are only confirmed when medicals are done and contracts because other clubs are in for him.

Apart from Brenden, we don’t have a classic no.10 in our squad and that is something in the last 48 hours we perhaps have to have a look at.

“But nowadays, not so easy to find someone with all the qualities who is the perfect character, affordable and has the quality to improve us. We won’t fall asleep, we will see what the outcome is.”

Leeds should push the boat out for Sallai

Despite Leeds’ clear determination to sign Hamer, it feels like a very difficult deal to do at this late stage of the window.

He is going to cost an extortionate fee for this level and clearly Sheffield United are going to have a difficult time replacing him.

With that in mind, Leeds should instead push the boat out for Sallai, who could be available for just £7.6 million and provide as much quality as Hamer.

Freiburg seem considerably more open to selling than Sheffield United and so hopefully Leeds really focus their attention on the Hungarian.
