A handful of Leeds United players have been linked with the exit door at Elland Road this month, and now it is claimed The 49ers will green light one of Daniel Farke’s mainstay players.

Six Leeds players have been linked with a move from Leeds this month. Junior Firpo’s camp are planning for a transfer, with Besiktas eyeing Firpo while old club Real Betis are leading the race for his signature.

Meanwhile, Tottenham want to sign Pascal Struijk given their issues at centre-back which is currently seeing Archie Gray out of position. Ally McCoist declared over the weekend he feels sorry for Gray.

But one player is coming in for plenty of criticism within the Leeds sphere at the moment, and that is goalkeeper Illan Meslier after arguably being at fault for all three goals on Saturday against Hull City.

Leeds now ready to green the January sale of Illan Meslier

The 24-year-old goalkeeper has kept 14 clean sheets in 26 Championship games, conceding just 19 goals. But the Frenchman, who is one of two vice-captains at Leeds, is being linked with an Elland Road exit.

Rennes are eyeing £15m-rated Meslier, while Arsenal and Manchester United have also been touted with surprise bids for him. Now, The Mail say Leeds will listen to offers for Meslier in the coming weeks.

Indeed, The 49ers will sanction a move for Meslier this month if the price is right. Meslier has now entered the final 18 months of his contract, and the chances of Leeds getting a decent price is slim after Saturday.

Meslier though, remains a key part of Farke’s Leeds side having played every single second of the 2024-25 Championship campaign, starting and finishing all 26 games.

What Jon Newsome said about selling Illan Meslier on weekend

Former Leeds star Newsome was in attendance on Saturday and watched Meslier play a leading role in throwing away the club’s two-goal lead against Hull. The second goal conceded was an absolute howler.

Speaking after the match, Newsome said that he would not sell Meslier this month but only because the club would not receive the amount of cash they believe he is probably worth – but it is unclear how much.

It will be interesting to see who starts against Harrogate in the FA Cup on Saturday, with Karl Darlow likely to replace Meslier. It will be even more telling who then goes in goal against Sheffield Wednesday.
