Leeds United have turned their attentions to Fulham and Wales attacker Harry Wilson on deadline day.

Leeds United have endured a rather frustrating deadline day so far, with Daniel Farke’s side trying hard to sign some new attacking quality, but so far coming up short.

Ahead of deadline day, Farke said Leeds United would work hard on deadline day to bring in some more firepower having scored just once in their opening three Premier League games this season.

But despite links to the likes of Gustavo Hamer, Emi Buendia, Facundo Buonanotte, and Bilal El Khannouss to name a few, Leeds seem no closer to completing any deadline day deals as things stand.

After it was reported that Buendia is now looking set to stay at Aston Villa, with Buonanotte and El Khannouss having joined other clubs, and with Hamer looking like he might be closer to PSV than Leeds, Wilson’s name was revealed.

Leeds United News exclusively revealed that Leeds are working on a deadline day deal for Wilson at Fulham. Soon after, Leeds United had a loan bid rejected for Wilson, 28, who has been with Fulham since leaving on a permanent deal from Liverpool in 2022.

Experienced in the Premier League, the Football League, and on the international stage with Wales, former Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa is one of many managers to have mulled over Wilson’s attacking quality in the past.

Wilson has an impressive 64 caps for Wales, with 14 goals. For Fulham he has 150 total appearances with 25 goals and 38 assists. His attacking quality has long been admired and speaking back in August 2018, Bielsa had his say on Wilson.

After Leeds thumped Wilson’s Derby County 4-1 in the Championship, Bielsa hailed Derby’s attacking quality, saying former Rams boss Frank Lampard had a ‘good taste in attacking football’.

Bielsa then went on to describe Wilson as an ‘exceptional’ player, along with Tom Lawrence and Mason Mount who were also at Derby County that season.

Wilson has since become an established Premier League player. But as the Cottagers continue to stabilise in the top flight and sign bigger and better players, Wilson has fallen down the pecking order somewhat.

For Leeds, though, he could be exactly what Farke needs in the final hours of the window.
