Predicted Leeds United XI to face Sheffield Wednesday: Three changes as Daniel Farke makes key midfield call

Daniel Farke may be tempted to make some changes to his Leeds United side to face Sheffield Wednesday tonight.

The Whites face the last of four matches in just nine days and in order to ensure his starting XI has a fresh feel to it, some alterations could be necessary this evening.

Farke made three changes to his side that defeated Stoke City 1-0 on Tuesday night, and a similar number could be in store again after a tired second half display at Elland Road.

Leeds have no fresh injury concerns to deal with heading into the game, meaning Jaidon Anthony looks set to be out again due to personal reasons. Pascal Struijk is still not ready either.

Here is our predicted XI for the trip to Hillsborough.

Goalkeeper

Illan Meslier was very good in midweek and so obviously keeps his place in goal.

Defence

Connor Roberts was handed his first league start against Stoke and deserves to keep his place at right-back after another impressive showing. He also brings that leadership and experience.

Sam Byram also made his return to the Championship starting XI for the first time since New Year’s Day, but it is important not to overwork him, so Junior Firpo starts at left-back.

Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon, of course, continue their partnership at centre-back with Struijk still not ready.

Midfield

Archie Gray was handed a nice rest against Stoke but with Roberts doing enough to keep his place in defence, the 17-year-old should come into midfield in place of Glen Kamara.

Ilia Gruev keeps his place as the more deep lying option, which should allow Gray the freedom to push forward box-to-box.

Attack

Dan James made a scoring return to the starting line-up against Stoke but was out on his feet at the end, and so with such a short turnaround, Willy Gnonto returns.

It is likely that Farke will keep faith in the rest of the front three in Georginio Rutter, Patrick Bamford and Crysencio Summerville, though Mateo Joseph cannot be far away from a start.
