Connor Roberts was angry at 24-year-old Leeds teammate last night, gave him a proper ‘rollocking’

Connor Roberts was finally handed his full league debut for Leeds United against Stoke City last night.

The 28-year-old did start in the FA Cup defeat to Chelsea seven days ago but had been restricted to just cameo appearances in the Championship following his loan move from Burnley on deadline day.

However, Roberts has made a significant impact in each of his last two league appearances, scoring the equaliser against Leicester City, and assisting Patrick Bamford at Huddersfield Town.

And Roberts was able to show his worth for 90 minutes at Elland Road on Tuesday, getting forward and linking up well with Dan James, but also looking solid defensively in a hard-fought win.

With Leeds very much on the younger end of the scale in terms of the age of their squad, Roberts has immediately become one of the more experienced members and according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, he wasn’t afraid to show that last night.

Roberts gave Meslier a ‘rollocking’ last night

The report states that Roberts gave goalkeeper Illan Meslier an absolute ‘rollocking’ in the second half when Leeds were coming under the cosh a bit by Stoke.

Roberts wanted Meslier to slow it down and keep the ball, but instead the 24-year-old opted to knock it long, which left the Wales international infuriated.

With Liam Cooper on the bench and Luke Ayling having left for Middlesbrough, that sort of leadership is exactly what Leeds needed in January and it is good to hear Roberts already stepping up.

Upon signing for the club Roberts claimed he felt like the right type of player needed to do well at Leeds and it has certainly felt that way in his first month at Elland Road.

On the other hand, Meslier may have been on the wrong end of a ‘rollocking’ by Roberts, but he can certainly be happy with his contribution last night with a few key saves and claims.
