Leeds United are straight back into action after Saturday’s draw at Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night – and Connor Roberts will know better than most, promotion is not lost after one bad result.

Leeds could not take advantage of playing against 10 men for more than 45 minutes during Saturday’s Yorkshire derby – with Patrick Bamford equalising after Roberts came off the bench to make an assist.

Roberts has already made a telling contribution in our push for automatic promotion having joined the club from Burnley in January, a loan until the summer. A player that knows what it takes to be promoted.

Having done so with Burnley last term, the 28-year-old’s experience of Championship promotion will be relied upon to keep spirits and belief high, after failing to beat a struggling Huddersfield on the weekend.

Speaking to Welsh outfit Sgorio over the weekend, Rodon highlighted just how important Roberts is on and off the pitch – describing the right-back as “brilliant”, but also important behind the Leeds scenes.

“He’s a brilliant character for the group – the experience he brings is always going to help us. To be with the boys it makes it easier to settle in, I’ve enjoyed it this season,” Rodon said, when discussing Roberts.

Leeds have a young squad and Daniel Farke will need to rely on the elder parts of his side. The likes of Liam Cooper, Stuart Dallas and Bamford – who provide the long-term core, and promotion experience.

But also, the players that have been there and done it in this division with other clubs. Roberts is a big improvement in that regard off the pitch. On it, he is also doing the business. He’s in line to start soon.

His goal against Leicester, his assist on Saturday, his efforts against Chelsea – his only start for Leeds – in The FA Cup. Surely, come Stoke City at Elland Road on Tuesday night, Roberts will get a start.
