Sebastiaan Bornauw is looking like a brilliant signing at Leeds United as his signature is soon to be on the dotted line.

Fans will be thrilled by the 49ers’ movement in the early stages of the transfer window, as July is expected to be a very busy month.

Jaka Bijol and Bornauw are set to put up some major competition for Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk and there has even been a suggestion that Struijk could exit Leeds.

With the Belgian’s soon-to-be arrival, it’s hard to see where Struijk can regain his place, as his injuries may give Daniel Farke time to think.

Adding to this, the player Bornauw models his game around shows that it will be very hard to compete in that Leeds team.

The defender looks to be a brilliant transfer with Bornauw set to arrive for £5m.

A bargain in today’s market, as although he struggled with injuries last season, Bornauw appears to be the ultimate defender.

To add to how he perfects his playstyle, he takes a little segment on a role model’s ability after he’s also been compared to agent Daniel van Buyten.

Speaking to RTBF, he spoke on his leadership side of things, and how Virgil van Dijk plays a big role in how he models his game.

“It was van Dijk who paved the way with the 100 million paid by Liverpool. The Dutchman is my role model: he’s well-rounded, calm, and charismatic, a real leader on the pitch,” Bornauw said.

“I too try to lead my team-mates and take responsibility. It’s in my character; I’ve always been captain of the youth team at Anderlecht.”

Farke is developing hidden trend at Leeds with Bornauw signing

As mentioned, the Belgian is looking like a piece of astute business, and it’s great to see he will hit the ground running with his presence on the pitch.

If the 26-year-old is anything like van Dijk, Leeds will be just fine this season, but the most impressive thing about Bornauw is his threat in front of goal.

In his first season in Cologne, Bornauw netted six times from centre-back, as Farke has a hidden tool in his ranks.

But the Leeds manager has also developed a hidden trend, as after Bornauw claimed he was a leader on the pitch, this follows Bijol’s success in being a leader.

Farke will want to rely on these players when he can, and to have two fresh new leaders at the back gives Leeds a real boost in staying in the Premier League, as the trend could continue deep into the window.
