Leeds United are still eyeing further depth in their defence after securing the signing of Jaka Bijol this summer.
Daniel Farke has dipped into the German market with the 49ers before to source Leeds United players, with the likes of Ilia Gruev, Ao Tanaka, and Josuha Guilavogui all brought in during recent seasons.
It’s brought success and is an area that Farke knows firsthand from his time in the Bundesliga with the likes of Borussia Monchengladbach.
They require numerous players on top of that but Lukas Nmecha has already added to that list following his arrival from VfL Wolfsburg, which starts tomorrow. However, it appears he is not the last player to come to Leeds via that club.

Leeds line up £5 million Sebastiaan Bornauw move with medical scheduled
Sebastiaan Bornauw is set to be the next through the door for Leeds, with the Belgian international scheduled in for a medical ahead of a €6 million (£5.1 million) move from Wolfsburg.
The 26-year-old is close to finalising a move to Elland Road, with his medical planned to take place at Thorp Arch today, according to Graham Smyth of The Yorkshire Evening Post.
He was in the final year of his contract with the side, with the 6’3″ defender having been with the Bundesliga outfit since a 2021 arrival from 1. FC Köln. He was only with Koln briefly after joining from Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht.
His game time has diminished in recent seasons, but Bornauw has experience of operating in back three and back four systems, as well as occasional minutes at right-back as well.
That versatility should serve him well and Leeds have lined up a four-year contract for Bornauw, per Smyth’s report. He is a former teammate of Nmecha and Guilavogui as well.

Sebastiaan Bornauw has an impressive goal record which will interest Leeds
Leeds need depth and options who can play in a range of positions and systems, which is what Bornauw brings to the table. He also brings a strong goal record from centre-back, which is something Leeds will want to have all over the pitch.
He’s also at the peak age, much like Pascal Struijk, Joe Rodon, and Bijol. It’s evident that he’s back up given the fee committed to the deal when compared with the Slovenian.
| Team | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| RSC Anderlecht | 29 | 1 | 2 |
| 1.FC Köln | 57 | 7 | 1 |
| VfL Wolfsburg | 96 | 4 | 2 |
| Belgium | 4 | 0 | 0 |
The depth will mean Ethan Ampadu can operate in his best midfield position regularly, though. That is what is most important when considering this deal.
Leeds are focusing more on their rear guard currently than their attack, with a striker, attacking midfielder, and a winger all required yet.
