Dominic Calvert-Lewin cut a relaxed figure in the Sky Sports studio immediately after he helped Leeds United secure a well-earned draw against Brentford.
Wearing a training top to cover his match attire and a pair of sliders, Dominic Calvert-Lewin was rushed in front of the cameras after scoring a brilliant header to earn Leeds a valuable away point.
The Leeds striker had every reason to be pleased, having scored his fourth goal in as many games, revelling in the new direct approach favoured by Daniel Farke.
Calvert-Lewin admitted three points were there for the taking after the match, in a sign of how far Leeds has come, as they opened up a three-point cushion on the bottom three with a battling draw.
However, Calvert-Lewin’s goals have done more than simply fire Leeds up the table. They have also thrust him back into contention for an England call-up, several years after his most recent appearance.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin should be in contention for England
There was a time during Euro 2020, played in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, when people were calling for Calvert-Lewin ahead of Harry Kane, as the former Tottenham man struggled for form at the tournament.
However, the quarter-final against Ukraine proved to be Calvert-Lewin’s final appearance in an England shirt, as form and fitness deserted him after he scored 29 goals across two Premier League seasons.
Chris Sutton backed Calvert-Lewin for a return to the England squad after Leeds’ draw against Liverpool, and his fourth goal in four games means he is on his best goal-scoring run since 2020.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Farke reiterated his belief that Calvert-Lewin is among the best strikers in the country, as he said: “We are blessed to have him. For me, he’s one of the best English strikers that we have.

“Harry Kane is playing in Germany for Bayern Munich, but definitely one of the best English strikers here on the Premier League level, and he’s proving this.”
Phil Foden and Danny Welbeck are the only English players with more Premier League goals than Calvert-Lewin this season. Having rediscovered his best form at Leeds, Tuchel would be foolish not to consider bringing Calvert-Lewin in from the cold with the World Cup on the horizon.

Having asked Jamie Redknapp what the West Ham score was, Calvert-Lewin was then probed on whether he believed he could force his way back into the England reckoning with Leeds.
While the prolific striker admitted that he always retains an ambition to play for England, he insisted that his sole focus was scoring the goals Leeds need to keep them in the top flight.

Calvert-Lewin said: “It’s always the goal to play for your country and represent your country at the World Cup, but for me, my job is to do as best as possible for Leeds United, and that’s what I came here to do.
“Score goals at club level and just play my best football and, as I said before, control the controllables and the rest takes care of itself, doesn’t it?”
