Leeds United centre forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin has delivered his immediate verdict on whether his side is happy with a point after their battling draw against Brentford.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin was the hero for Leeds United as he produced a perfectly timed leap to head home a late equaliser against Brentford.

The England international is starting to find his best form at Elland Road, with the Leeds man enjoying his best run of form since 2020.

Leeds were good value for a point, and Daniel Farke may believe his side deserved more after Jordan Henderson put Brentford ahead against the run of play.

Now, Calvert-Lewin has admitted that Leeds were disappointed to leave with just a point, as he helped rescue Leeds again.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin admits Leeds United wanted more from Brentford draw

Speaking to Sky Sports immediately after Leeds avoided defeat away from home for just the second time this season, Calvert-Lewin stated his belief that three points were “there for the taking” for the Whites.

However, Calvert-Lewin was pleased with the resilience that Leeds showed in the second half, as Willy Gnonto made another telling contribution from the bench.

The Leeds star said: “I think in the end it’s a point gain, but I think three points were there for the taking, definitely.

“We hung in there first half, we didn’t really give them too much to go off, so second half, we wanted to start on the front foot, and I thought that we did that.

“Going a goal behind is frustrating, but I think in recent weeks we’ve shown good resilience, good character to come back into games.”

Stats show Leeds United deserved more against Brentford

The FotMob stats from the game back up Calvert-Lewin’s assertion that Leeds deserved more against Brentford, as the Whites produced arguably their best away performance of the season.

Although Brentford had more possession than Leeds, with 57% to the away side’s 43%, Farke’s side had the better of the rest of the metrics.

Leeds had 18 shots to Brentford’s seven, created two big chances to the home side’s one, and had an xG of 1.43 to 0.71 for the Bees.

However, having registered just three points away from home so far this season, Leeds will undoubtedly be pleased with a battling performance to open up a three-point gap on the Premier League relegation zone.
