Leeds United and Brentford played out a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon as Daniel Farke’s side finally stopped the rot away from home, picking up their first points on the road since the win over Wolves.

Coming into the match, there was a newfound momentum among the Leeds players after results against Chelsea and Liverpool. But on paper, Sunday looked as if Brentford would secure a win against Leeds.

The Bees had secured 16 from a possible 21 points prior to Sunday’s clash, and Leeds had lost six of their seven away games. However, Leeds held firm to secure a point and could quite easily have won the game.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored his fourth goal in four games, cancelling out Jordan Henderson’s opener. Calvert-Lewin became the third Englishman to score in four consecutive Premier League games for Leeds.

Leeds player ratings as Whites hold firm to deny Brentford

Lucas Perri – 6

Brilliant save to deny Brentford after a mistake from Pascal Struijk. Didn’t have much to do, but did what he was required with aplomb. Kicking is improving. Could do little about Brentford’s goal

Jayden Bogle – 5

Brentford’s goal came when Bogle was slightly out of position and ultimately, it came down his side. Aside from the goal, Bogle was good going forward but certainly, not one of his better Leeds outings.

Joe Rodon – 7

Incredibly consistent as always and on hand to make several clearances from Brentford crosses. The goal came from the right side but he was hardly out of position, just undone by the incision of the pass.

Who was your MOTM for Leeds against Brentford? ⭐

Stach and DCL possibly the stand-outs?

Jaka Bijol – 6

Solid, without being remarkable. Won numerous headers to clear crosses and continued to show why Leeds are a better side with the Slovenian in the middle of a back three.

Pascal Struijk – 5

Got very lucky in the first half, having conceded possession softly, only for Perri to bail him out. Struijk has adapted well to life back in the Premier League, but this was one of his below-par performances.

Gabriel Gudmundsson – 4

Very, very lucky to get away with a penalty in the first half, given by the referee in the first half. Not as good as Gudmundsson has been this season. Multiple mistakes and guilty of conceding needless fouls.

Ethan Ampadu – 6

Solid without being excellent again, much like the rest of the Leeds players. The skipper was crucial in winning the ball back to find Gnonto, before the Italian crossed to find Calvert-Lewin’s head.

Ao Tanaka – 5

Having scored goals against Chelsea and Liverpool, it was hardly a surprise to see Tanaka in the starting line-up but ultimately, the Japan star had a quiet game and was replaced on 73 minutes.

Anton Stach – 8

Superb going forward but ultimately, it was Stach that allowed Jordan Henderson to run off him to score the opener. Sums up his time in a Leeds shirt, excellent most of the time but the £17m man can make an error.

Noah Okafor – 6

The Switzerland international came close to opening the scoring in the first half and was certainly Leeds’ biggest threat. A positive performance, in the absence of the injured Lukas Nmecha.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 7

Perhaps, Calvert-Lewin can be accused of going quiet in the first half to a degree. But the way he leapt to meet Willy Gnonto’s cross and head into the corner was one of perfection. That is four goals in four, now.

Substitutes:

Willy Gnonto – 7

A stunning cross into the box for Calvert-Lewin and the second game in a row in which the Italian has produced some magic out of nothing to save Leeds. More headaches for Farke.

Brenden Aaronson – 5

Came on and ran around but did little of note during his 20-minute cameo.

James Justin and Jack Harrison – N/A

Came on in injury time.
