Leeds United will be hoping to go three games unbeaten on Sunday afternoon when the Whites travel to London to take on Brentford at the G-Tech, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin can break a record.

The odds are stacked against Leeds, despite their brilliant win against Chelsea and late draw at home to Liverpool. That is because Brentford have been superb at home this season, winning five of seven games.

Daniel Farke’s job is safe for now, can he get a result against Brentford? 🔮

A total of 16 points from a possible 21 under Keith Andrews at home and Leeds are tasked with nullifying the home crowd. It doesn’t help that Leeds have been dismal away from home, losing six of seven games.

But after Farke’s change in formation at half-time against Man City, it does feel like a new era under the German. One player that has sparkled since Farke’s change in style is striker, Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin boasts good chance of ending Leeds wait

Only two Englishmen have scored in four consecutive Premier League matches for Leeds. The first was Rod Wallace and the second, Michael Bridges, who did it twice during the 1999-2000 season at Leeds.

Now, Calvert-Lewin has the chance to become only the third Englishman in Leeds’ history to achieve the stat if he scores against Brentford. And, judging by his record against Brentford, the signs are positive.

Despite Brentford’s many years in the Premier League now, Calvert-Lewin has only faced the Bees on three occasions. A total of 207 minutes and yet, Calvert-Lewin has still found the back of the net twice.

Across those three games, the 11-time England star has picked up four points. Indeed, his only ever game away at Brentford resulted in a 3-1 win for Everton during the 2023-24 campaign, having been a sub.

The three key battles as Leeds take on Brentford today

Calvert-Lewin will be front and centre on Sunday, against Brentford’s centre-backs. If Leeds are to stand any chance of a result, the striker has got to hold off the likes Nathan Collins and Sepp van den Berg.

If he can dictate both defenders, it opens up spaces for others. If Calvert-Lewin plays well, then Leeds have a chance of a win. Similarly, Leeds have got to keep Igor Thiago at bay come Sunday afternoon.

The Brazilian is earning calls for a call-up to Carlo Ancelotti’s side after scoring 11 Premier League goals in 15 games. Joe Rodon, Jaka Bijol and Pascal Struijk have got to keep the Brentford striker quiet later on.

The final battle, is Keith Andrews and Daniel Farke. Leeds fans will renew their rivalry with Andrews on Sunday, a hostility that was born out of 2019. Andrews has earned praise for his start to life at Brentford.

Farke meanwhile, has come through major criticism and question marks over his job, to now earn the respect of supporters. It is an intriguing battle on the touchline, new against old, Farke v Andrews.
