Why Daniel Farke was ‘furious’ with Leeds United star Georginio Rutter at one point on Sunday

Georginio Rutter won the man of the match award on Sunday as he laid on two assists for Leeds United in our 2-0 win over Millwall – but Daniel Farke was ‘furious’ with the Frenchman at one point.

Rutter, 21, has been sensational this season. On Sunday, he took his tally to 25 goals and assists in 40 appearances for the Whites. Of those 25 involvements, 18 have been Rutter creating goals for Leeds.

Stunning numbers. Rutter firstly laid on Willy Gnonto in a good area, before lashing a left-footed shot into the corner. His second assist for Dan James was a thing of beauty – praised from Jobi McAnuff.

Even then, Rutter said himself after the match that he did not think he was at his best on Sunday – which wets the appetite of Leeds fans. If Sunday was below par, just how good will he be when regularly, par?

It wasn’t all plain sailing. Rutter did lose the ball a few times. At one point, he could have played in Archie Gray. The YEP said, in off-camera moments: “Farke’s furious reaction to Rutter not finding Gray’s run.”

It shows just how high Farke’s standards are for Rutter. The German knows that he has to be on the club’s record-signing in order to get the best out of him. Lax, and Rutter’s form may start to decline.

But from what we have seen this season, Rutter is a confidence player. A player that plays so much better when he’s happy and has the trust of his manager. He has arguably been our best this season.

Rutter has dropped out of France’s U23 squad this week, missing games against The USA and The Ivory Coast. It is unclear if it is due to an injury. Lyon’s Rayan Cherki has replaced Rutter in the U23 side.
