Two more assists for Georginio Rutter came on Sunday as Leeds United cruised past Millwall, taking his tally to 25 goals and assists for the season – but Rutter claims it was not his best performance.
The 21-year-old was the man to find Willy Gnonto, with the Italian slamming home a gorgeous goal from 20 yards out to give Leeds the lead. Then, a moment of genius from Rutter, to create our second goal.
He rolled on-loan Tottenham man Japhet Tanganga before finding Dan James, who scored after coming off the bench. A goal that earned praise from Sky Sports pundit Jobi McAnuff, after the 2-0 victory.
Two more assists for Rutter, who has now taken his tally to 18 – along with his seven goals in 40 outings this season. Arguably, our best player this season, in with a shout for the Player of the Season award.
Speaking to LUTV after the game, Rutter claimed that his performance on Sunday – despite his two assists and winning the Man of the Match award – that it was not his best performance in a Leeds shirt.
“I try to do my best on the pitch. I do some assists. The second was good, you know. It was not my best performance. Millwall is a strong opponent. It is not easy against them, but today we were stronger.”

Incredible to think that Rutter was not overly happy with his outing on Sunday – but it shows how well he knows he can play, and the standards he sets himself. That should be exciting for Leeds supporters.
To know that if Rutter is of the belief that he is capable of better than he managed on Sunday, then he is only going to get better and prove even more decisive in matches moving forward. He’s a sensation.
