Leeds United’s trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers will see Daniel Farke face Vitor Pereira at Molineux on the fifth matchday of the Premier League.

Leeds United may well be a newly-promoted side but Daniel Farke’s outfit have acquitted themselves far better than Wolves have so far in the 2025/26 season.

Be that as it may, but another consideration is that Farke has often lost to Wolves during his managerial career. Some experts are predicting that the trend will continue, even though this is his first game against them in charge of Leeds.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson thinks Wolves beat Leeds and BBC Sport’s Chris Sutton also predicts defeat for Leeds at Molineux. That’s despite the fact the Whites have won the last three Premier League games against their hosts.

Vitor Pereira explains one change for Wolves against Leeds

Farke is working on Leeds’ finishing ahead of Wolves and goal threats are not plentiful between the two clubs heading into this one. The three goals they have scored between them have all come against Everton as well.

Injuries dictate that Jack Harrison or Brenden Aaronson will get the Leeds nod to start from Farke, given the situations surrounding the doubts with Dan James and Willy Gnonto.

The West Yorkshire outfit will also have to contend with the referee selected for the Wolves game. On paper, it appears to be worse for the visitors than their hosts. 61-year records are on the line for Wolves vs Leeds as well.

Earlier this week, Vitor Pereira signed a new Wolves deal. He has already revealed aspects of how his team are looking to compete against Leeds, amid talking up the size of the fixture against the Whites.

Speaking via Liam Keen of The Express and Star, Pereira said on training: “I saw team spirit and hard workers. We are trying to connect them to create our identity and I hope tomorrow to see the results of the work.”

On morale, he added: “The team gives me the confidence I need and I try to give them confidence too. They work hard and show ambition, they are competing. I can see they want to get results as soon as possible. Tomorrow is a very important day.”

Wolves boss Vitor Pereira’s praise of Leeds

On top of explaining how Pereira’s side can beat Leeds through team spirit, he said: “When a wolf is in pain and suffering, this is the time for the pack to unite and show the strength of the pack.”

He also added: “It will be a tough game but we’re thinking about us. Tomorrow is a good chance for us to show our work and our improvement. It’s a very important game for us.

“We can change the dynamic in attack and midfielders to create different solutions.”

For both teams, it’s a huge game. However, that is perhaps more true of Wolves when considering their start to the campaign.
