Many Leeds United players love the opportunity to prove pundits wrong as this one Whites player has done it in a flourish.

Leeds have now built a tight bond within their squad, and it goes to show what a brilliant spell of form can do.

Sam Parkin backs Leeds to beat Sunderland on Monday as the Whites have the chance to extend the run to 15 games unbeaten.

A big help to achieving that will be Pascal Struijk playing, as after 90 minutes against Millwall, Daniel Farke hopes Struijk is up for selection.

Another Leeds player who has played a vital part in this fantastic run was once ridiculed by controversial pundit Simon Jordan.

Simon Jordan said Leeds United star Dan James was a ‘waste of money’

It’s hard to believe Jordan would be so controversial with his statements, well not really.

The pundit isn’t one to keep quiet on subjects and made a bold remark about Dan James after his first season at Elland Road.

In 2022, Leeds lost 3-0 to Chelsea in the Premier League, with James seeing the red mist after a brutal tackle on Mateo Kovacic.

Speaking to talkSPORT (14/05/22) Jordan went all guns blazing at James, calling him a ‘waste of money’.

“James’ decision – it’s irresponsible, it’s not a case of… they’ve got to go into these games with blood and thunder,” Jordan said.

“James, who has been a fundamental disappointment all season to Leeds and a waste of money in my view, has left them in a situation in a game which they might not have been expected to get much out of.

“They might have been able to nick a draw, but (he) has made it virtually impossible for them to do so.”

James has proven Jordan wrong and is arguably Leeds’ best player

Since a debatable first season from James, it’s been an extraordinary turnaround at Leeds.

Jordan has certainly eaten his words, as James can be perceived as Farke’s best player at the moment, and you wouldn’t have many fans disagree with that statement.

James has become a ‘leader’ at Leeds in what has been a stunning campaign for the Welshman, whose statistics don’t lie when you say he’s the best in the current squad.

James’ statistics in the Championship for Leeds United this season (ranking in squad)
Games played26
Goals + Assists16 (2nd)
Goals per 900.50 (3rd)
Big chances created13 (1st)
Expected assists (xA)7.4 (1st)

The winger’s £25m fee is now looking like a bargain but James still has one more thing to prove to Jordan.

With the Whites’ promotion to the top-flight edging ever closer, and James in Leeds’ Premier League plans, the 27-year-old now has the chance to flourish for Farke on the Premier League stage, leaving Jordan looking silly.
