Leeds United have already made their first signing of the summer after Lukas Nmecha’s arrival from Bundesliga outfit VfL Wolfsburg.
Lukas Nmecha is a Leeds United player, with a swift move to bring Nmecha to Elland Road coming out of nowhere and sealed within hours of the initial reveal.
Wolfsburg even wanted to keep Nmecha but wished him well upon signing for Leeds on an initial two-year deal until 2027. Nmecha has also been capped seven times for the German national team.
It was there that the 26-year-old striker played alongside a recent Leeds player, with Josuha Guilavogui urging Nmecha to move to Leeds this summer.

Leeds fans react to signing former Man City youngster Lukas Nmecha
Nmecha knows English football but his best years have come in Belgium and Germany and Nmecha is already expecting survival for Leeds in his first full taste of Premier League football.
Pep Guardiola and Vincent Kompany have praised Nmecha previously when he was a youth player, but his injury record over the last two-and-a-half years has been disruptive to his development and held him back for both club and country.
That factor is on the minds of many Leeds fans, although a number have been quick to praise his all-round profile as a centre-forward as well.
Another added: “Lukas Nmecha is a player who has always had potential but incredibly bad luck with injuries. #LUFC medical team did wonders with Sam Byram and Manor Solomon last season. If they can do the same for Nmecha he may finally be able to make good on his talent. A calculated risk.”
A further response read: “Don’t understand all the Leeds fans losing sleep over Nmecha. We got him on a free, which means more money to buy a 1st choice striker. Different profile to the strikers we already have as he’s more faster and physical. He’s already played in England and has good pedigree. #LUFC”
One final Leeds take said: “i rate Nmecha ability wise but his injury history is absolutely diabolical, makes Bamford look like the pinnacle of fitness. He’ll only be a back up, but hopefully he’s available when needed.”

Lukas Nmecha’s goal and assist record is misleading
Among other things, Nmecha is classed as homegrown for Leeds. That is a handy attribute that is added into the squad. His goalscoring record is also better than it looks below.
| Team | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Manchester City | 3 | 0 | 0 |
| Preston North End | 44 | 3 | 5 |
| Middlesbrough | 13 | 0 | 0 |
| RSC Anderlecht | 41 | 21 | 3 |
| VfL Wolfsburg | 85 | 19 | 4 |
| Germany | 7 | 0 | 0 |
That is because, per 90, Nmecha’s Bundesliga record is closer to 0.5 goals. That is excellent, even if there are question marks surrounding his availability.
As a back-up striker, he should offer more than others as a top flight player. He has experience but also the ability to pin and run the channels as some sort of a focal point.
If his body holds up, it could be considered a strong piece of business on a free. That is also providing Leeds sign another striker on top of Nmecha as well.
