Patrick Vieira is set to be appointed as the new manager at Strasbourg following talks with Leeds United.

That is according to BBC Sport, who report Vieira will sign a three-year-deal at the French club on Sunday, who are now owned by Chelsea billionaire Todd Boehly.

Vieira was among the leading contenders for the vacancy at Leeds just over a week ago and reportedly held face-to-face talks with the hierarchy at Elland Road.

However, Leeds have instead opted to go for former Norwich City boss Daniel Farke, who could be announced in the coming days after agreeing personal terms with the Whites.

It became apparent earlier this week that Vieira had dropped out of the running at Leeds after emerging as first choice for the position at Strasbourg.

Vieira now set for Strasbourg as Leeds close in on Farke

According to RMC Sport earlier this week, Vieira spoke with the hierarchy at Strasbourg over the potential of becoming their next boss, with a deal now seemingly now having been agreed.

Chelsea owner Boehly is now in charge of Strasbourg after completing a deal to buy a majority stake in the club last month, with Vieira set to be his first appointment since taking charge.

Leeds are still yet to make an official appointment themselves, but as mentioned, Farke has now emerged as the front runner and is set to finalise his move imminently.

San Francisco 49ers Enterprises had hoped to officially appoint him after receiving ratification from the EFL but with that not having arrived in the timeframe they wanted, Farke may be confirmed before.

Leeds return for pre-season testing on Monday and know that it is important to have their new head coach in place by then.
