Strasbourg are targeting a move for Patrick Vieira as their new manager who was on the final shortlist for the vacancy at Leeds United.

That is according to RMC Sport, who report Vieira has spoken with the hierarchy at Strasbourg over the potential of becoming their next boss, though he has not yet emerged as the number one candidate.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is now in charge of Strasbourg after completing a deal to buy a majority stake in the club last week, and is already looking to stamp his authority.

This time last week, Vieira was among the leading contenders for the vacancy at Leeds and took part in final face-to-face interviews in London with Angus Kinnear and Paraag Marathe.

Leeds are still yet to officially make an appointment as they continue to wait for EFL approval on their takeover, but Vieira featured on a shortlist alongside Daniel Farke and Scott Parker.

As mentioned above, while Leeds have not announced who their next manager will be, it feels like it will be ready to go as soon as San Francisco 49ers Enterprises are officially ratified.

The fact Vieira is now out speaking to other clubs could be a huge hint that Leeds have in fact already made their decision.

Had Vieira been chosen, he would not be well advanced in talking terms with Leeds’ board ahead of getting started in the role as soon as possible, but he instead is already in discussions elsewhere.

This would fit in with recent reports that former Norwich City boss Farke is indeed the chosen one at Leeds, after the Daily Mail reported last Friday he had emerged as the first choice.

As soon as EFL approval arrives, Leeds will be able to announce it, but it is certainly pointing in the direction of Farke at this stage.
