Everton are now just £1.7 million from reaching Leeds United’s asking price for Wilfried Gnonto.
That is according to Tutto Mercato Web, who report Everton’s latest offer is currently around the £17.3 million mark, but Leeds are commanding closer to £19 million.
As per the report, there is said to be confidence that a deal will get done despite noises coming from the English media this week that Everton will walk away from a deal.

Sky Sports claimed earlier this week Everton are now close to moving onto other targets with Leeds continuing to hold firm in their stance that he will not leave this summer.
Southampton’s Kamaldeen Sulemana is someone the Toffees have started looking at, while former Leicester City loanee Tete is another option on a free transfer.
Everton now reportedly just £1.7m from Leeds’ Gnonto valuation
However, despite those claims the Italian media are once again suggesting that Everton are close to signing Gnonto, which feels like a story that has arisen several times this summer.
Various reports from England have also claimed Gnonto is sceptical over a move to Goodison Park, with the prospect of another Premier League relegation battle not overly tempting.

The 19-year-old is someone San Francisco 49ers Enterprises are keen to keep this season, though his minutes during pre-season would indicate he is not yet a guaranteed starter under Daniel Farke.
However, he could well be handed the chance to start the Championship opener against Cardiff City tomorrow with a number of injuries in attack for Leeds.
Either way, this feels like a saga that will go right until the end of the window.
