Daniel Farke became the first-ever manager to win the Championship title on three separate occasions on Saturday, as Leeds United secured a 2-1 win over Plymouth Argyle at Home Park.
Leeds needed to match Burnley’s result on the day coming into the game and with Scott Parker’s side going unbeaten for 33 games with a 3-1 win over Millwall, Leeds had to beat Plymouth to win the title.
Going behind, Willy Gnonto equalised before the Italian laid on an assist for Manor Solomon’s injury-time winner – sparking pandemonium in the away end. Limbs everywhere, as Leeds secured the league title.
Leeds’ best-ever points tally in a season, and yet The 49ers could replace Farke. The Leeds owners are said to be considering the German’s position as boss, largely because of his previous Premier League record.

Paul Merson weighs in on reports Leeds could sack Daniel Farke
Of course, it is a consideration The 49ers need to make. But having enjoyed such a stellar season in which Farke orchestrated such success, surely The German deserves a chance to have another crack at the top?
The fanbase is split. Some are concerned his six wins in 49 Premier League games means Farke will simply send Leeds back down, but others are aware that Farke’s situation at Norwich made it nearly impossible.
On Sky Sports News this afternoon, Paul Merson was asked if Leeds should sack Farke and the Arsenal icon said that unless Leeds had Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti lined-up, they should keep Farke as gaffer.

“I would personally [be amazed if he’s not in charge next season]. He’s done an unbelievable job, it’s not easy getting Leeds out of the Championship,” Merson said, when asked if Leeds should sack boss Farke.
“The pressure on getting Leeds up, there was more pressure on him than any other manager, it’s such a big club. Unless they get [Carlo] Ancelotti, he deserves to be there. Who else are they going to get?”
Merson comments ironic as Leeds linked with an Ancelotti
Leeds have been linked with a number of names as possible replacements for Farke. Cesc Fabregas has been starring as Como manager, and the Spanish legend is one of a number of names linked with Leeds.
But the latest report suggesting The 49ers are doubtful regarding Farke in the Premier League, which is in The Guardian, says Leeds have approached three including Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Roger Schmidt.
The other, ironically given Merson’s comments, is actually Ancelotti’s son Davide. The Italian has worked as his Father’s assistant at Everton, Bayern Munich, Napoli and Real Madrid but is set to look for a job.
