Illan Meslier has had a bumpy few seasons at Leeds United, and his future has been seriously considered.
The goalkeeper position will be a serious talking point this transfer window for Daniel Farke and Leeds.
This comes after Meslier’s numerous mistakes over the years, and Farke not dropping Meslier concerned the Leeds hierarchy.
But the Whites boss had no choice, and Farke dropped Meslier, which has left the Frenchman seriously considering his future.
Well, now what Patrick Bamford has revealed about his reaction to the incident says it all about him.

Patrick Bamford reveals what Illan Meslier did after Leeds United drop
The goalkeeper got replaced by Karl Darlow which seemed like an inspired decision from Farke that helped Leeds get over the line to reach the Premier League.
Darlow was very supportive of Meslier as the goalkeeping union stood strong, but no doubt it would’ve still frustrated the Frenchman.
The final straw from Farke ultimately came when Meslier made howlers in Leeds’ 2-2 draw with Swansea City.
With the 25-year-old now watching from the sidelines, Bamford has given insight into how ‘angry’ Meslier was, and what he did after the drop.
Speaking to the Fozcast, Bamford said: “I said to him, ‘You’ve played how many games? You’ve done your bit, there are six games to go, you’re angry, don’t show it’.
“If you’re are angry, hopefully we go up and you have eight weeks to just mull about it.
“He actually did all right. After the Swansea game, Illan spoke and backed Karl, and said even if I’m dropped, I’m still here for everyone.”

Meslier’s latest stance on Leeds United future
Of course, his character speaks volumes, and despite all the backlash from Leeds fans, Meslier has stood strong.
Farke clearly had belief in the keeper until the final minute, but there was no defending that performance against Swansea, which was ultimately the nail in the coffin.
| Meslier’s statistics in Leeds 2-2 Swansea | |
| Minutes played | 90 |
| Error led to goal | 1 |
| Goals conceded | 2 |
| Goals prevented | -0.02 |
| Accurate long balls % | 3/10 (30%) |
It seems as though Meslier’s six-season stay at Elland Road could come to an end this window with Caoimhin Kelleher emerging as a likely replacement.
This will send alarm bells to Meslier who doesn’t want to be second choice, and if the opportunity arose, he would look for a new challenge.
After Leeds sources said Meslier almost cost their season, it doesn’t look as though he will be staying around for too long.
