Daniel Farke has made the surprising decision to drop Illan Meslier in which Leeds United fans did not expect.

Farke made the shocking decision to drop Meslier after the Frenchman came under increased pressure following his howlers against Swansea City.

The Leeds boss went against the likes of Ross McCormack’s verdict who expected Meslier to stay.

Many had this view, but it seems no one was more eager to make the change than Farke, as Karl Darlow will now be in the spotlight.

With this decision made, it will have no doubt been a difficult conversation, as Farke has revealed all.

Why Daniel Farke decided to drop Illan Meslier after secret chat

It became clear that Meslier needed to be dropped, but no one actually expected it to happen.

Sam Allardyce thought Meslier deserved the drop, as it’s not too harsh to say he’s proving costly to Leeds’ promotion push.

Well, Farke has been ruthless with this decision, and in his pre-match press conference for Luton Town has revealed the chat he had with Darlow to make it happen.

“We had a feeling he could have done better over the last few weeks. I wanted to protect him a little bit,” Farke said.

“It feels like the spotlight is on him, and he is still a young man.

“The weight of the world is on his shoulders. I have a reliable option in Karl. Very experienced”

Farke has taken pressure off Leeds future with Meslier decision

Of course, football is a results-based game, but in this instance, it seems like a player situation.

Leeds have stumbled in the promotion race, and Farke was begged to make changes to his lineup, and this decision could help the Whites get back on track.

Although he will still have increased pressure on him with anything but a win against Luton, Meslier not starting means he can’t be at fault for goalkeeping errors.

To take this decision in his own hands is a bold move, and Farke has seemingly listened to Jed Wallace’s advise in protecting Meslier at Leeds.

It seems like the correct decision, but Farke is praying this move for Darlow will pay off dividends.
